When painful things enter our lives unbidden, the instinctive question is, “Why?” We immediately look for cause or purpose. If we can find either, we are better able to bear the difficulty.
 
But when we can find neither, then the question often changes to an accusing, “Why, God?” 
And if we don’t get an immediate answer, or if the answer is not to our satisfaction, we get angry at God.
