Curriculum Details

The CREST Certificate Program curriculum is developed sequentially, with one Encounter building on the last.  Each Encounter provides life development and specific skill set training.

Encounter 1 – Story

What does your story tell you about your life today and where it’s going?

In Encounter 1 you will proactively engage with your story, mapping out the major events in your life – those events that help you see how God has been shaping your experiences to prepare you for what is ahead.

Students will also be introduced to a powerful and very different way to think and record your thoughts, allowing you to expand your creative thinking skills.

Encounter 2 – Deep Values

Are you doing today what you thought you would be doing at this time in your life?

In Encounter 2 you will work through a process to uncover and reconnect with your deepest values – beliefs that shape your behaviour and choices as you pursue your life purpose.

Learning how to ‘maximize your capacity’ is necessary for effective leadership.  Practical tools will be reviewed in all four domains – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Encounter 3 – Core Strengths

Have you identified your key strengths and are you leading from the core of those strengths?

Too often leadership development focuses on improving people’s weaknesses.  In Encounter 3 the focus will be on the special ‘strengths gifting’ that God has put in the heart and life of every leader.  Students take an online assessment that is surprisingly accurate in describing who they are.

Encounter 4 – Compelling Dreams

What will sustain your energy and passion for the second half of your life?

God has placed this deep within the heart of every leader.  By mid-life this dream may have been buried by the rigours of life.  In Encounter 5 each student will be introduced to a practical process to uncover those dreams that will sustain them through the years ahead.

Encounter 5 – Healthy Relationships

What is the most important thing that we should be talking about right now?

Relational Intelligence is a core component of effective leadership and relationships are built ‘one conversation at a time’.  Encounter 4 will teach you how to ask powerful questions that lead to conversations that ensure that your interactions with people are stimulating and meaningful.

Is there an ‘alligator size’ issue in your life that is keeping you from moving forward?  Students will learn a very effective process proven to get anyone unstuck.

Encounter 6 – Dynamic Strategy

How do I get there from here?

Once we begin to see the possibilities of new dreams and opportunities the question is: “How will I do it”?  In Encounter 6 students will be introduced to effective strategic planning; and you will learn the difference between change and transition.

Nothing moves forward without Trust.  In this Encounter you learn what comprises trust, and how to build it with people and organizations.

Encounter 7 – Effective Teams

I could get more done if it wasn’t for the people.

When it comes to getting things done, people make all the difference.  Effective leaders know how to identify, motivate, and re-direct those that they interact with every day.  Encounter 7 is loaded with practical approaches to conflict management, team building, and supervising people.

Encounter 8 – Synthesis

Where do I go from here?

In Encounter 8 the entire two-year, CREST Leadership experience will come together in a way that will reveal how you have grown during this journey.  You leave with a plan to go forward.
