The CREST Team
Dr. Dan Reinhardt is the Founder and President of the CREST Leadership Program. Leadership development has been a theme all his life. From an early age, Dan watched his missionary parents train leaders in India. Dan began his development with a Bachelor in Bible degree, followed by a Master’s degree from Jerusalem in “The History and Geography of Ancient Israel.” He practised leadership skills during 22 years of pastoral ministry at Hillcrest Church in Medicine Hat, Alberta. During this time he also served for 15 years as a Director for The Leadership Centre / Willow Creek Canada, a ministry to equip church leadership in Canada. He later earned a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Preaching from Asbury Seminary. His doctoral thesis became the foundation for the CREST Leadership Program, which he launched in 2002.
Dan and his wife, Anne, have four grown children and several grandchildren, and currently live in Three Hills, Alberta, where he also serves as lead pastor to Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church.
Dr. Terry Young is presently a member of the Crest Leadership Board and serves as a Facilitator for the Masters in Christian Leadership. He has previously held pastoral leadership positions, most recently at First Alliance Church in Calgary, Fort McMurray Alliance Church, and River of Life Alliance in Calgary. Terry is currently Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at Ambrose University. Having completed doctoral research at Gonzaga University on holding environments for leaders in 2004, his desire is to encourage, inspire, and equip leaders who find themselves on the complex front-line of leadership. He is presently researching, writing, and presenting on The Front Porch Effect™ which explores the vital role of reflection in personal and organizational leadership. If he ever writes a best-seller it will be entitled, The Purpose Driven Prayer of Jabez in The Shack. Terry is married to Maureen and they share together a family of four grown children and seven grandchildren.
John Pritchard graduated from CREST with a Masters of Christian Leadership in 2006, one of the first CREST graduates. He is also one of the original members of the CREST Board of Directors. John served as pastor of several churches around Alberta for 25 years and is currently in his “sweet spot” as the founder and regional leader of The Edge Home Church network and Disciple-making Movement. He has served as interim CEO of Seed of Hope Community Development in South Africa, and has led several mission teams to serve there, as well as to support and serve a house church network in Cuba. John is married to Trish and they have a daughter and two sons, all married, and three grandsons and one grand-daughter.
Cathie Ostapchuk, a graduate of the CREST program, has completed her Masters in Management and Leadership. She has served on the leadership team of NextLEVEL Leadership and facilitates leadership development nationally and internationally, most recently at World Vision, and in Ghana. Her strengths include facilitating collaborative conversations, and seeing people grow in their God-given strengths. Cathie is a certified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTIThe Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® (MBTI ®) – a versatile assessment of personality type that describes people’s preferences for interacting with others, gathering information, making decisions and organizing their lives. Cathie is also a national speaker for Leader Impact Group, a ministry of Power to Change.
Shawna Lepp joined the CREST Leadership Centre as administrator in 2007. Previously, she was a Production/Revenue Accountant in the oil industry and then home educated her children. During her fourteen years of home educating, she served on the Board of the Alberta Home Education Association and was Speaker/Convention Coordinator for the annual convention of the Association. Shawna has also held a variety of volunteer positions at her church. Shawna and her husband live north of Calgary, Alberta. They have two grown daughters.
Verdeen Bueckert is a Registered Nurse, CREST graduate and board member, with a passion for innovation and adaptive leadership. If “Every system is perfectly aligned to achieve the results it gets”, what are we doing – or thinking – that produced the mess we’re in? What paradigm shifts lead to better outcomes? How do we translate these insights into culture change?Since graduating from CREST, Verdeen has worked with outstanding leaders to improve care for patients and nurses. She currently Orbits the Giant Hairball of Alberta Health Services in a project to reduce unnecessary and detrimental medications given to seniors with dementia. Verdeen lives in Calgary and is a member of the CREST Board.
Eric Lowther has 30 years of experience as a senior manager and successful entrepreneur in the Canadian Telecommunications and Information Technology sector. He graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta and is a trained Systems Development Analyst. In addition Eric was elected (1997) and served as the Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre. He was an active member of the House of Commons Industry Committee and specialized in CRTC policy, Telecom legislation and Y2K readiness. He also successfully advanced child and family friendly policies in Canadian law. As a Crest graduate, Eric personally attests to the critical importance of the CREST Program. “CREST results in a renewed personal vision for our lives and leverages all our past to make the latter half of life more richly rewarding, in all dimensions, than we can ever imagine.” Eric is also a member of the CREST Board.
Marvin Brubacher has served as the Executive Director of MentorLink Canada since January 2012. MentorLink is an international network of people who partner with existing ministries to accelerate the training of leaders who will “lead like Jesus.” MentorLink began in 2000 and has served in over 45 countries. Previously, Marvin served as the President of Heritage College & Seminary in Cambridge, ON, for more than 21 years. He has ministered in many churches and conferences throughout Ontario and the Maritimes and has also served internationally in several countries overseas. Marvin also serves on the Canadian Board of ABWE (Across Borders for World Evangelism) and the International Board of ABWE Ministries, Harrisburg, PA. Marvin and his wife, Kay, have three sons and five grandchildren and reside in Cambridge, Ontario.
